Movie making

Sharing my knowledge on movies Kia ora bloggers, this week in Te Ngahere we have been focusing on making movies. I was learning that movies need things like story beats, scripts, shots and angles. I learnt that you have to have shots and angles in a movie to make it interesting. I wanted to publish this so I can express my learning. This is my script that my teammates Jade, Breeze and I have made for our movie link. The reason that we are doing this is because we are making films for the Northland Film Festival. Two groups from our school will be chosen to go and represent Paihia School at the festival. What I found hard was learning how my script would go and what emotion and moves the actor is going to be giving. What helped me keep on going was my team; they were encouraging me, telling me that we can do this. What you can learn from this is that even if this was a movie is has to acted like it’s real. The mistake I made while doing this was, I just started filming without thinking about the shots and angles that my movie is going to have. Have you ever done movies before?

Something that you must learn

For the past few weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning about different Maths algorithms. The one I have been focusing on was short division. I was learning how to solve problems using the criteria that we got provided from Mr Lindsay. We got question that were already put in place for us this is a link to the sheet. This post is for teaching you how to do it. This is my video to show you instead of words how to do this step by step link . What I found really hard was learning how to do this because I have never ever done this before. What helped me keep going was my teachers because they helped me finish what I started. What you can learn from this is you can be able to solve problems without having to go use a calculator. The mistake I did when I was learning about this was I thought I was timings it instead of dividing it. Have you learnt about short division before?

Kapahaka

On Thursday the 19 of September The ropou of Paihia Kura went to Kaikohe to perform. What I learnt was that you can make a living out of kapahaka if you are penitent about it. We watch many groups because on the day after we perform we are going to make our way back to school. When it was our turn I was so nervous but then I remembered that I had a whole ropou behind me.When  it got to my solo I in our karangia I knew that I was safe and I just sang. When we got off heaps of people came and congratulated us. I was so proud of our ropou. I have nerves because it was the real day.

Story Beats

This week in Te Ngahere we have being working on Story beats , Story Beats are like the structure for the story. For example it is what makes the story flow and for people to know where is this story going. All these boxes symbolise what all the main events are. I have been learning to find out what would go in what box because I struggle with staying on one topic. I kinda lose what topic I am on so I go onto different tangents. This is going to help me for the future, if I am going to be an author so I can set out what my story’s main events are going to be. This is my writing can you please give mew some advice on how I can make it better.

Kapahaka

Kia ora bloggers, our Kapahaka roopu have being practicing so hard for our comp next week.

We have to give our 100% if we want to go to the Kaikohe culture festival. Our boys have been amazing learning our haka’s and our girls are awesome learning our poi. We have being practicing in our morning tea and lunches. Our amazing tutor Matau Pep has taken his own time to do it with us. I like doing this because it gets us ready for what to do. What I enjoy is doing something that my ancestors did years before me. What I did well is I held my notes. What I could do better is give it my all.

Reusing and attributing images

Kia ora bloggers, this week we have been learning about Reusing and attributing images. We had tasks such as finding the license for photos using explore, taking your own photos, using unsplash and sumopaint 2.0. Our teachers Whaea Becks and Whaea Chrissy were learning with us which made the process much more fun. I liked learning about this because it will help in future because a lot of things have copyright on them. What I enjoyed was playing around with the apps and being in control of my own learning. What I could do better is use more tools on my chromebook to make more interesting photos. What I did well is I controlled my own learning at home and I finished some of my work. I liked doing this because it helps me learn a lesson for the future to use you own photos instead of someone else's. Blog you later.

Cross country

Last week on Friday Paihia School did cross country at Bledsloe. We set over to Bledsloe in cars and a bus. When we arrived we set down the timpoling and put all our things on top. There were yummy food for sale. Our PTA were helping cooking. I was a marshal, a marshal is a person that guides the younger kids around the course. When we were ready for our race we lined up and Mrs Pou said 1,2 and 3 and we raced across the field and over a gate. When we got onto the other side we had teachers guiding us through the paddocks. We had to go up 3 steep hills. Around the teachers at the top and the rest was down hill. I was scared I was going to fall over but I didn’t. We had to go over the gate again because there was cars and we weren’t allowed through the gate. When I reached flat ground I was so happy. When I finished my older sister Emma was there to congratulate me. I was so proud. When my sister and all her friends had finished I was even more prouder or her than I was of myself. What I enjoyed was finishing the race. What I could do better is run more than walking.

KapaHaka

At Paihia School we have a kapahaka roopu. We have been practicing for the Kaikohe kapahaka festival that we are going to be attending. This is our bracket it goes our entry P-A-I-H-I-A, then Whakarongo mai, Reinga wairua, our poi, transition, our haka and finally our exit. I like having practice because it helps me feel safe when singing. What I have being working on was my smiling and pukana. What I can do better is sing louder but I want to not lose my voice. I can’t wait until we got to our compitton in Kaikohe in week 9.
