Geomtrey

This term Te Maunga we have been learning about geometry. We learnt the difference between a pyramid and a prism. I learnt that the pyramid goes to a point also I learnt that a prism goes to the top of the shape. I liked learning how to draw a cube and a rectangle and different shapes and I learnt about where the lines would go on a shape. What I found tricky knowing where the corners and the edges lined up. I liked doing geometry because of the learning experience. I think that I would want to do this again. I like doing geometry.

his Term in Te Maunga we have been focusing on procedural writing text. I was also learning how to make my writing interesting. I mostly learned to use time sequence words. There was a lot more of what I had learned but it was amazing because I learnt a lot. What helped with my learning was I got to go a lot of writing workshops and that I got to set my own goals . What also helped me was I got to choose what I wanted to write about. I was controlling my own learning to help me with what I want to do not what other people want me to do because I wouldn't learn . What I think I have to work on next time is looking back at my work and proofreading. I think that I also have to go back and evidence and I have to think before I say I am done. I also think that when I do something I have to think before I write it. I liked doing a different type of writing because I am growing up and when I am in a new class they might ask me do you know this? I can say yes to them. I think that Procedural writing is my second favorite writing in the world. I do think that I would want to do this next year. I would like to write more and more of these types of writing.

At Paihia School we went on to a trip to Bledisloe mountain. We went because we were doing cross country. I ran around a field and up 2 hills. I came 8th place in the cross country. I enjoyed just giving it a go and doing my best. I didn’t enjoy stepping in the horse poop and going through the mud on the hills. I also did not like going in the water and getting my feet sticky and more muddy every time I went up and down the hills. We practiced mostly everyday and Jade always beat us. I improved in practice because I kept trying my best. I think that I tried my best and kept on going until I dropped.

In Te Maunga this term we made flubber.Flubber is like slime. We made flubber for our maths problem solving. The flubber didn’t work because we added to much water in with the borax . I learned that 50 teaspoons makes a cup. I thought that learning to do the fractions was hard because we had to use big numbers. Also I thought that doing in cups not teaspoons help me understand. I liked doing this because it was a cool experience. The flubber might not work if there is two much water in the glue. In Te Maunga we use 1 cup of glue, Borax, Water, a bowl, a spoon, measuring cups and measuring spoons.
