Marine

4th March Paihia School got a visit from our sea cleaners,
sea cleaner are people that clean our sea and take care of our sea life.
We were learning what types of plastic go into that water and make our marine animals die.
We talked about how the plastic gets  into the ocean in the first place.
The bottle caps and other junk get through out of you window and when it rains all
the rubbish get pushed into the gutter and ends up in the ocean.
I enjoyed think about why the animals are dying and learning why we have to save them.
I think what I can do better next time is think and think about more detailed questions.

Taku whanau

In Te Ngahere we have being working on Taku Whanau, Taku Whanau explain our family in a different way the our Pepeha. After we had finished our script we finally got to work on an animation to help explain what we had written.  When we had finished our animation of taku whanau. We got to talk over the top of it using screencastify. What I really enjoyed was just doing the learning and then being able to have the treats. Just like we did the learning and then we got to go away and have fun making an animation. What I think that I did well is that I catched up in my learning when I was away and I got my recording done fast. There was something else that I know that I am proud of, it is knowing that it was hard and I ask for other people’s help, to boost my learning. What I think that I could do better next time is see what I can do then go ask a buddy.

Paper rockets

My Writing: 
In Te Ngahere we have being working on scientific methods ,
this scientific method was about paper rockets.
We got into groups of 2 or 3 and started to  get our material. We had to think about what was the question we wanted to answer
and what was going to be the hypothesis.
When we had gotten our question we went off and started to
reach our question to find data to make a hypothesis.
When we found the information we then filed out our sheet.
We created a google sheet to put our data on.
We took a tape measure and every 150cm we would chalk down it on
the carpet. So that we wouldn't change to many variables.
We chalked a line and we traced around a person feet to make sure
that we can keep all the same lengths that we are shooting from.
We watched a video on making paper rockets and we started building.
After we had done 10 test 
each we then swapped the rocket our modified version.
Our modified version had another wing so that we could have a
test on if the rocket had one more wing it fly feather than that.
After testing we are going to make graphs to explain our data.

It was fun making the paper rockets because we got to test them and
fly them. What I enjoyed was making them with my buddy Angela.
What I think I could do better next time is share the equipment a
little more. What I did well is that I was helping my buddy Angela. 

Science

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about scientific methods,scientific method are intrusions that go in order of steps. We were trying to explain a scientific method using the success criteria which was ask a question,gather information and observe, make a hypothesis (guess the answer),experiment and test your hypothesis,analyze your test results and present a conclusion. I enjoyed making the infographic because I like finding  pictures that related to the topic. What I think that I did well is that I sat by people that helped me and that I had people that were positive learners with me. What I think that I could do better next time is help more people that are stuck.
