Our project

On Monday 18th of February 2019 we got a visit from the Waitangi Treaty Grounds staff. We were learning to create different objects with tools on many apps. On tinkercad we made native trees and plant because every tree and other thing in the forest have a place. Whaea Kerry made a whole world of our trees and awa/moana and other bits in our project. What I think that I did well was that I learnt how to make trees. What I think i can do better next time is make a more detailed tree. Blog you later

Waitangi Treaty Grounds

Kia ora everyone on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th the year 6’s set off to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We learnt about the Treaty Grounds history, I learnt that the Treaty was signed by the Europeans and the Maori. We did two separate activities on the first day. Some people went on a hikoi and the others stayed and had tutu. We all had a turn on all of the tools . We also learnt that some of the trees that are in New Zealand got transported by birds or shipped. Our topic that we are learning is identity what is your identity ? . What I think that I did well was that I added my ideas and I enjoyed learning the history and meaning behind painting and carvings . I think what I can do better things next time is ask more questions. . The wonderful ladies that help us were Whaea Monica and Whaea Kerry. We are creating our hoes, waka’s and people that symbolizes our identity. Our identity is important so you know your ancestors and where you came from. Whaea Monica and Whaea Kerry are coming into our class bringing there awesome tech knowledge and helping us finish our work.

In Te Maunga we have being making all types of art and crafts. On friday 9th of November we had flower day and pet day and on the 8th of November we made A&P posters. When we made our A&P poster we had to make sure the the words were spelt right. Some people would maybe get a prize for there A&P posters they would get a small amount of money. I did not win any awards but my friends Jade and Makaila did. I enjoyed making my poster because I liked adding photos and getting help from others. I didn’t like going back again and again but it makes the writing better.I liked doing the A&P poster because it was very fun and we got to control our learning. The art that was high effort got to go to the A&P show.

In Te Maunga we went to a swim safety lesson. The 3 things that I learnt about being safe is that you can float on your back and it can keep you safe. If you can float on your back, you can go back to shore but if you panic you can drown. Then I learnt to go with the rip because if you try to fight it you can sink to the bottom of the sea. I also learnt that we have to remember to stay calm and think before you jump in to save anyone because you can take your own life with them. You can check the weather.

We played speed cricket it is when you have to run to the end of the pole and back to the line. I enjoyed playing speed cricket because you get to bat the ball and have fun with you class. I also liked catching the ball and competing against me friends.I found it tricky batting the ball and putting my right foot out. I love doing cricket because it is so so fun.

We were learning about writing appropriate questions to ask Rebecca Brothers. I enjoyed her telling us how much medals she won and how cold and hot her pool was. I learnt that you can do anything in life and still be human.
