Rarangi matahiko program

Kia ora everyone on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th the year 6’s set off to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. We learnt about the Treaty Grounds history, I learnt that the Treaty was signed by the Europeans and the Maori. We did two separate activities on the first day. Some people went on a hikoi and the others stayed and had tutu. We all had a turn on all of the tools . We also learnt that some of the trees that are in New Zealand got transported by birds or shipped. Our topic that we are learning is identity what is your identity ? . What I think that I did well was that I added my ideas and I enjoyed learning the history and meaning behind painting and carvings . I think what I can do better things next time is ask more questions. . The wonderful ladies that help us were Whaea Monica and Whaea Kerry. We are creating our hoes, waka’s and people that symbolizes our identity. Our identity is important so you know your ancestors and where you came from. Whaea Monica and Whaea Kerry are coming into our class bringing there awesome tech knowledge and helping us finish our work.
