For the past weeks in Te Ngahere we have been doing art. The type of art we are doing is PouPou, PouPou are carvings that stand outside or in a Marae. The steps to finish our art were 1.To draw the different body parts of the PouPou, 2. Draw patterns, 3. To vivid all the pencil,4. Use blending to color in the art. I liked doing my PouPou art because I got to explore with hot and cold colors, hot colors are like red, yellow, orange, ect and cold colors are like blue and purple and greens. I liked this type of art because I got to work on Maori patterns. I liked that we got to do a rough copy before we did the real copy. I tried my hardest to finish my art because I’m not that good at art. What I did well was blending colors together. What I could do better is ask when I need help. Do you like my art?

What Was Art This Week?
Kia Ora bloggers, this week in Te Ngahere we learned how to draw and make patterns with meanings behind them. We also learnt about the color wheel and what colors stand out together. If you don’t know what Poupou are they are things that stand on, on top or inside a Marae. We got to draw them to symbolize us and what we are. You got to make your own patterns. What I did well is I was quiet and tried my best to do my art and get things right. What I could do better is rather not spend time on my good copy more than my practice one. What describes you in three words?
Challenges A Struggles
One of the other challenges was having to santerise or wash hands before entering another classroom. Another challenge would have to be sitting in one place for the whole day because people normally swap sets as the day goes on. A struggle I had during this pandemic was not touching every object because I can not control my hands when I am being nosey. What I did well through this time was trying my hardest to not hug/ touch people because of this pandemic. What I could do better is remind people/ myself about the virus. Now that we are in level 1 I feel that we are more safer during this time. But I am still aware that the virus still exist and has not ended yet. What did you feel challenging during this pandemic?
Writing Letters
What we have done in Te Ngahere is write letters to the elderly in rest homes that we not allowed visitors because of Corona Virus. We wanted to make them happy by writing a letter so they feel like they are not alone. I really enjoyed writing my letter because I like to see people happy and giving a smile to someone. I hope that the receiver of my letter is happy and joyful. Thank you to Red Cross they were actually the first person that came up with idea and It makes me happy that they did. What I did well is I thought about what I can write to relate to them at this moment of time. What I could do better is put myself in there shoes and think more about what they must feel like. Do you have grandparents?
Kia Ora friend
My name is Jorjah and I am one of the students at Paihia School. I live with my family in the amazing Bay Of Islands. I have 6 siblings and I also have 2 dogs. Do you like animals?

I enjoyed being in lockdown and being able to watch movies when I wanted to. But I really did miss my friends. I enjoyed that I got more free time to calm myself in quiet and have my own time to do things.
I recently learned how to convert fractions into decimals. I Also learnt different techniques in art and about different blendings. The color wheel and different patterns to make a Poupou. Do you like maths or art?
I know during this time that it must be really hard to not have company from your family/friends but I know that it will get better as this pandemic calms down. I do have some encouraging words that I hope will comfort you during this time. During this time I don’t know how lonely you must feel but I guarantee that you probably have some goals you might have at this moment. Even though you might not be with your family they will always be in your heart. I really like to see the receiver of this letter happy, so be happy with everything positive that happened through this time. I have Kuia and Kaumatua myself and I was not allowed to see them and it broke my heart so I'm writing this out of joy and happiness to make a special someone happy.
I hope you feel better once you have this letter. I like that I got the chance to write this letter to you. Hope this makes your day. I like that we get to put a smile on someone's face. Thank you for taking time to read this letter.
Your sincerely
Jorjah

Funny Fractions
Kia Ora in Te Ngahere we have been learning about fractions. I love doing fractions because
I find them easy. I learned that you multiply the denominator to make a multiple of 10 because it makes it a tidy number and it is easier to get your answer. Also what you do with your denominator you do to you numerator I find fractions easy because I've learnt about them a lot. I made a screencastify for my learning and I am going to share it with you. What I did well is I gave it me best. What I could do better is explain my learning a little bit more. Tell me what you have learnt. Have you learnt fractions before?

This Three Legged Dog
We had to write about a short movie and find the climax. We got to rewrite the ending into our own. There are different types of ending including a cliffhanger, warm and fuzzy, moral of the story and many others. I chose to do a warm and fuzzy ending for this piece of writing because it was a sweet story. What I did well is I finished a story. What I could do better is add more detail. What do you like about my writing?
When the puppy was waiting at his feet with the ball. The boy grabbed the ball and threw it by the door. The puppy then chased after the ball tumbling over his 3 feet. When he returned with the ball the boy had a smirk on his face. The boy hopped over into the kitchen and popped the ball. The puppy looked miserable but the boy had no emotion whatsoever. The puppy sat by the door weeping. The boy turned his head and saw it. He then looked at the wall and was thinking about his decision. He called the puppy and as soon as he did the puppy turnt his head. The boy then apologized about what he had done. He then went to the shop and bought a new ball. The puppy was so happy he started jumping up and down.
What Are You Thankful For?
We did a poster about gratitude if your wondering what gratitude is it is another word for thankful. During this hard time there was a lot to be thankful for. As much as there are downs from this we had some up for example it gave Papatuanuku a chance to have a break for a lot of people traveling over her. What are you thankful for?
